xfi advanced security "NaN" error

I got a notification on my iPhone about a security threat that needed attention so I tapped on the notification, went to the app and selected "Advanced Security" but all I see is this screen. When I try to tap on the "NaN" nothing happens. Obviously some sort of bug here.

I checked to make sure the app is updated, and I restarted my iPhone. Same thing happens.

Thank you for bring this to our attention. It appears there are not threats detected after the alert. This is normal, if the threats are resolved.

@XfinityBrandon I was still getting that same "NaN" error for a couple of days, then it switched to this:

And now it's this:

Notice that I still see the same "IP Reputation" security risk, but it now says "No action needed" instead of "Action needed".

The IP address in question ([Edited: "Personal Information"]) is a known offender.

Hey, @tony_w, I hope you are well today. Looking at the details, the xFi Advanced Security is working as intended. The threat is detected and then resolved. Often times the "reputation" is a result of a an update needed from another device, or a risk from another device. With the Advanced Security feature enabled, whenever a threat is detected, it’s automatically blocked and you are notified in xFi and given tips on how to resolve.  You are also given the option to Allow Access for certain types of threats. What happens when you select "Help Me Fix It"? Does it show where the reputation is coming from?

Two separate issues here:

1) The "NaN" error I initially reported is a bug on your end. "NaN" is a standard programming error that means the field is supposed to contain a number, but the value is not numeric. I'm guessing it should be displaying a zero there.

2) The actual security alert does appear to be valid. I tried to post the IP address here, but my message was edited to remove it. I'll try again using dashes instead of dots: 89--248--165--63. I did a lookup and it seems to be a known offender:

What I don't understand is why one day it says "requires action" and then the next day it says "no action needed" when I didn't do anything at all on my end in between. Either way it looks like the connection was blocked, so at least that part is working. It's just the way the information is being presented to me seems a bit wonky.

@tony_w If no action is taken when notified, the program is designed to take care of it for you. This is why there is no action needed. NaN is short for Not a Number. NaN indicates that the monitoring system is not receiving any numeric data. It does not need to contain a number. There can be several causes for receiving a NaN:

  1. The collected service has stopped running.
  2. The Server has crashed due to an application failure.

As for the IP that tried to access it, we recommend you make a report with our Customer Security Assurance Team online at https://comca.st/3sPaA1B or by calling 1-800-XFINITY.
