Tried reinstalling xfinity tv remote app on my iPad.   It states it is no longer available.  My iPad is updated to newest system.

Xfinity over decades has always shuffled around with it’s packages and pricing. It’s customers are it’s LAST CONSIDERATION! I have spent hours dealing with THEM! This latest affront i.e. the elimination of the T.V.Remote/DVR manager APP is NOT THE FIRST TIME. The other app is still available but here is the catch. The REMOTE alllowed alot of RECORDING of programming which you could CAST to a television. The OTHER APP limits recording to 20 hours ANY MORE YOU MUST PAY!!!! XFINITY is in the “nickel & dime” MONOPOLY BUSINESS….but not for long! HA!

please bring back the Xfinity tv remote app. I still have it on my phone hoping someone will read the feedback. The web remote is nowhere near the same. I have an elderly father who struggled to use the regular remote or understand new tech. So, I would use the web remote to remotely change the channel to his favorite program throughout the day every single day. I live in NJ he lives in MD. The web remote does not allow me to easily do that. I have to look (remotely) at the stream app to see what is on tv then pray when I enter the channel number on the web remote that it actually works with no glitch. You all charge entirely too much money to not keep an app that was working. You did not diligence or even read the forum that clearly begged you to simply keep an app. How difficult is it. If my dad was not elderly I would have gotten rid of you for firestick but the only reason I could justify your existence was the service of the tv app allowing me to assist my elderly father and change the channel from NJ.

Bring back the app.  The greatest feature was to see the Channel Guide and Recorded Shows on the device being used.  It allowed me to help a Veteran with disabilities and dementia to watch TV shows easily.  The removal of the app is a bad move buy Comcast/xfinity.  It only hurts people paying extremely high prices for TV.

SHAME on you for hurting veterans and the disabled.

Don’t expect much from Xfinity for Veterans. Verizon gives me a nice discount. Many retail stores like Lowe’s and HD do the same. Xfinity gives me a pat on the back and won’t even keep a much needed app going.

Does Xfinity do anything for seniors like other companies?  Every time my cost increases and I call to find a way to lower my cost I am told to reduce services.

lgoldendc We do have discounts for seniors in some area's, and I'm happy to see if we have them for yours.

Can you send us a direct message with your full name, name of account holder (if different), and service address please?

To send a "Direct Message" to Xfinity Support:

Click "Sign In" if necessary

Click the "Direct Messaging" icon (speech bubble)

Click the "New message" (pencil and paper) icon

The "To:" line prompts you to "Type the name of a person". Instead, type "Xfinity Support" there

As you are typing a drop-down list appears. Select "Xfinity Support" from that list

An "Xfinity Support" graphic replaces the "To:" line

Type your message in the text area near the bottom of the window

Press Enter to send it

@user_0w28zn Thank you. I'm glad to know we're not the only ones going through this, but also sad to know that. My dad is a retired Army doctor with Alzheimer's, and the loss of that app has caused him so much confusion and anxiety. Try as I might to teach him to use other methods to find things to watch and how get them on the TV, nothing is getting through. And it is all completely unnecessary. Xfinity had a system that worked and have given no justification for taking it away. They screwed us and won't even tell us why. I hope some other cable TV provider will see this as an opportunity to move in on xfinity's territory and scoop up some dissatisfied customers, because I am so ready to bail. I just need a lifeboat.

Yeah this app needs to be restored. The web site is useless. Oh and thanks for killing Picture in Picture years ago. More money less features. Great way to run a company. Why not entry to keep the customers happy once in a while. How hard  is it to maintain the app?? Can’t be that hard

Why would you do away with an app that works?  Your new app only works if you are sitting in front of your tv.  I need  something that truly works remotely.  BRING THE APP BACK!

why do you need to change your cable box channel when you are away from home?

I believe these are RF remotes that will work basically anywhere in the house

Thank you for your feedback regarding the app, user_wolbqu. It has been heard and is appreciated. Good or bad feedback helps to make improvements not only to products and services but the customer experience as well.

I’ve posted a few comments about the retirement of the famous app and have been watching to see if Xfinity posts a reason.  So far nothing.  The Xfinity employee posts largely repeat the same basic thing, “use the web remote it provides the same functionality, you’ll love it”.  Makes me think the Xfinity posters have been given a basic script to repeat.  The “why” goes unanswered.  The web remote does seem to provide most of the features provided by our beloved app.  But for me the web remote is not user friendly.

A recent poster suggests legal action may be forcing Xfinity to no longer offer its use.  Sounds possible but the real problem is dissatisfaction from the user community (that’s us) which Xfinity doesn’t address.

If there’s a reason the app had to be shut down, fine, but we, the consumers, should be provided with an acceptable replacement, not reduced convenience.

I disagree, kind sir!  My assumption about the "Xfinity employee posts" that you refer to is that they aren't employees at all, but AI-generated responses!

That's why it sounds so scripted. AI, like ChatGPT, has absolutely no sense of embarrassment, no remorse, no self-awareness or sense of the obvious ridiculousness of its own repeated illogical and thoughtless responses, where an actual human would feel ashamed at being thought of an a moron or idiot by their absurd answers.   It is well known that for the last 18 months, companies have been quickly adopting and adapting "AI" faster and faster in wider and wider applications for work within - and without - their organizations.  One of the first areas to be affected is "customer support", which has always been a money-losing burden, yet unfortunately, a required piece of the façade of "customer service."  By replacing actual human employees with robots, i.e., AI chat bots, cost is eliminated while allowing organizations like Comcast to claim they "have great customer service" and even though the actual customers get tired and frustrated and angry at these robots, the robots themselves are oblivious, and don't mind repeating the same identical, inane nonsense hundreds of times - even to the same person.

So, it is obvious that no human would be able to live with themselves by having to repeat such utter misdirected and illogical nonsense over and over and over and over, never recognizing the absurdity of it all.  Therefore, the inevitable and irrefutable conclusion is that dealing with AI bots here!

@user_sd6vq7 If you dig deep enough on the Xfinity website you can get to a ‘contact us’ option.   One of the contacts is the President who wants to hear from you and will get back to you in a day!…I wrote on Presidents’ Day….nothing…grrrrr

"the President who wants to hear from you and will get back to you in a day!"

They are too funny, aren't they, though?  All the humor packed into a single line: ""the President who wants to hear from you" and "will get back to you" and "in a day!""  OMG!  Too funny!

@user_sd6vq7 I believe I found the legal issue that the other person was posting about. Somebody was suing Xfinity for patent infringement on the app. But Comcast won the lawsuit as far as I can tell.

I hate that the app is no longer being used. I liked being able to use it like a TV guide to see what was scheduled to air on TV. The online version of the remote control is totally useless to me. I want to see what is coming up. Please bring back the app. I pay enough and I have been a loyal Xfinity customer. Make me happy to spend my money on cable.

Most of the functionality is now divided between two apps.  That's a very strange decision.  Why?? From someone who made a career in IT, that makes no sense.  I want it back.

The person who made the decision to disable this app has made my life measurably worse. My father with Alzheimer's disease used that app on his ipad to control the tv and find things to watch, which was the best way to keep him entertained. He could look at the schedule, tap on something he wanted to watch, and it would come up on the TV. The web based app doesn't support this. And to anyone who asks, "Why doesn't he just use the guide on the TV?", you've obviously never dealt with an Alzheimer's patient.

I'm looking for alternatives to Xfinity that might offer the kind of features Xfinity decided to take away for no reason, but teaching him any new system will always be a problem. I honestly don't see a solution. I'm going to continue looking for an alternative to Xfinity, but I hate that we are stuck with you as the only cable TV provider in our area.

Looks like remote.xfinity.com has an UNRECOVERABLE ERROR OCCURRED tonight. I've rebooted twice and no change. So, "Houston we have a problem"...... Does this mean that Comcast's new Remote App has gone the way of the previous App that worked great IMHO???

@XfinityAmandaB

I am still NOT able to use the portion of the app to select a TV and change the channel. The portion of the program that gives me the Guide with channels and timetable works okay. I have not found a way to post a pic of the error message that comes up.

Comcast Xfinity made a big mistake by removing the app, and keep sending out an unacceptable answer, and try to throw us a substandard app to replace the excellent app they once supported.

Bring back the mobile app!

Like so many other big companies, they are tone deaf, and Comcast is apparently gone tone deaf on this issue.

Bring back the mobile app!
