Port Forwarding
I am unable to even look at my ports on my computer and edit, add or delete but I used to be able to. It says that I need to upgrade my brand new modem/router for xFi but it still works on my phone's xFi app. Any help?

So!! I went and bought my own modem ! The ARRIS Surfboard (24x8) Docsis 3.0 Cable Modem Plus AC1750 . Then XFI hijacked that modem also. I couldn’t setup port forwarding on that modem also!!! When I login the port forwarding tab would have a link that takes me to the XFi website, then it would say I need to upgrade my modem??!!!
So...... I returned it. and went with a netgear modem and netgear router! Don’t bother calling customer service (twilight zone ) no one knows what you will be talking about. Just avoid Arris.

This will happen with any brand / model of a combination modem / router gateway device. Using a standalone / straight cable modem and a separate router are the key !

Thank you it seems having a seperate modem/ router is the way to go, no more renting this from xfinity!

so were you able to do regular port forwarding using the Netgear Modem looking at the cm1200 ?
>
or did you need to buy a router as well and then use Bridge mode and then use the router to port forward
I DO NOT WANT XFINITY CONTROLLING MY PORT FARWARDS not yelling at you
just making it big so Xfinity will read
let me know what i need to do
using XB6 rented modem now but will return and purchace the netgear cable modem cm1200

First. The CM1200 is a plain vanilla / straight cable modem. It does not have a router / WiFi built in. You would need to use a separate router with it.
Second. It is a DOCSIS 3.1 capable modem. You would only need a DOCSIS 3.1 modem if you subscribed to their Gigabit speed tier. Otherwise it would just be overpriced overkill.

Did not even take that into consideration that i need some sort of router
i have my wireless separate through a grandstream gw7610 and wish to keep it that way
the cm1200 price is ok as i am buying it for the docsys 3.1 and so i do not have to buy another for a vary long time
but itf it does not route then i am at a loss
is there something that anyone recomends for the yes 1g speed that i have ?
all my traffic comes in to my Cisco SG300 and goes from there but this is just a managed switch
what modem router combo or not for the 1g speeds would anyone recommend ?

do youself a favor and turn your Xfinity in to a bridge mode and get your self a grandstreen 7630 for your wifi and a Gwn700 router for your router again grandstream when Xfinity did this i was in the same boat so i returned there modem and bought my own grandstream router so so configurable you will love it I am an IT director and love this thing also the grandstream wifi 7630 is great have one on every floor and just perfiect wifi everywhere
if i could drop Xfinity i would but need the speed and no one else has it where i live
also if you need a new modem the motrolla 8600 is about the best that i have found
