"Pause" feature not working, take 2

Before explaining how to "pause" or "unpause" a device on the network, please take the following into consideration; we already know how to "pause" or "unpause" a device on the network.

Can we get an explanation as to WHY it is NOT working. Please?

I am paying extra for a modem that is advertised as being able to provide me with features I want. Yet none of those features work.

What's worked for me, even though this is a band-aid and not a solution, is to pause the device and then restart the modem, everytime the device will stop after that, also I recomend that others dont have the password to your account that way they can't circumnavigate the pause.

Hello, jadedfalcon! I appreciate you taking the time to reach out to us here on the Xfinity Forums about this issue with pausing devices.

This can be such a useful feature so I would love to work with you to get it working properly where you can enjoy its utility.

I do have a few questions to start us off.

Can you tell me what kinds of devices you are experiencing this issue with and if you have this problem with all devices you try to pause or just a few specific ones?

Can you confirm if those devices are connecting to your home wifi network when paused, or if they may have switched to another nearby hotspot or the xfinitywifi hotspot?

And lastly for now, at any point do you receive any error messages when trying to pause these devices?

I look forward to your reply so we can get this figured out! 🙂

The issue is across all devices; xBox 1, PlayStation 4, Android phones, iPhones, Kindles, ect. Time limits are useless.

Some devices do not automatically select the next WiFi signal because they are not configured to do that.

Only error message I get is a confirmation that the device is now "paused" or "unpaused."

And from the looks of things, I'm not the only Xfinity customer with this issue.

Hey, can we get some communication going here? All we have so far is a "band-aid" solution.

I paused my Roku express to prevent it from using the massive amounts of data it uses, and it accessed the internet all night long anyway. (the Roku is supposed to have a backup 4 hour bandwidth shut down, and that didn't work either).

I'm not sure I understand. Are you saying to restart the modem every time you want to pause a device?

Hi, @picker5757! Thank you so much for your patience while waiting for a response. I appreciate you greatly for your time and for bearing with us through this. I just wanted to check in with you to see if you are still experiencing issues with the pause feature.

I have the same problem, and have noticed that the devices that say paused and have a puprl pause icon are actually paused but the devices with a grey pause icon are still able to connect to the internet. Any solutions Xfinity?

I ended up going back to the Comcast store and got a white (newer) modem. I can now "pause" devices and set a schedule, but time limits are not functional.

Hello

Has there been any resolution to this?

Like a dummy I have been pausing my kids devices, setting bedtimes trusting this works, and noticed my daughter up at 1am on the internet.

Doing some testing this morning, I am currently posting this from my laptop which is currently paused on the app.

I notice bedtime limits on my roku works, but bedtimes and pauses on some devices dont (so far I have only checked 2 macs a pc and my smart phone.

Given that this is so flakey, I am very concerned about parental controls also (which are not very transparent)

Thanks

I set up a pause schedule at night at 10:30.  For several weeks, it worked.  Now, it is suddenly not working.  Like others are noting, the system says the devices are paused, and yet still accessible to the internet.  Note that this includes ethernet cable-connected devices, so it's not like they are suddenly switching to another open wifi.
