After installing my new Xfinity xFi device, I was unable to connect to my Kindle Paperwhite 7th Generation bought in 2017.  I had no problem connecting the xFi WiFi signal to four Amazon Echo devices, two iPads, an iMac, and a MacBook laptop. The Kindle indicated that it recognized the xFi WiFi network name but when I entered the password that I had confirmed through several sources, it failed to recognize the xFi WiFi signal and connect.

After speaking to tech support at both Amazon and Xfinity - both very patient and helpful - and following the same directions that I had already undertaken, I still had to explore other options and resolve the problem myself.

I discovered that I had to go to the online Xfinity website, edit the Xfi WiFi setting into a 2.4 GHz WiFi and a 5 GHz Wifi signal. I was then able to choose from four different WiFi Modes on the 2.4 GHz Wifi.  I choose 802.11.11.g,n,ax.

After making those changes,  I typed in my xFi WiFi name and password and my Kindle recognized the new 2.4 Ghz WiFi mode. I retained the same xFi Wifi name and password for both the 2.4 GHz and 5Ghz networks, although Xfinity says that they prefer that the both WiFi networks remain combined since each device will determine which xFi WiFi mode is preferable.

But, for the time being, I'm sticking to what is working.

While going through this process, I deregistered my Kindle on the device itself (which really had no effect because it was not connected to WiFi at the time). Then, I went to the Amazon website and deregistered my Kindle which basically eliminated it from my devices list.  All of my ebook purchases remained and could be accessed from my other household devices and computers.

Once I was able to get my Kindle connected to Xfinity xFi, I was careful to reregister by signing into my existing account on Amazon.

Warning: Do not register your Kindle as a NEW device or you will lose access to previously purchased ebooks. You will want to sign in using your existing Amazon account name and password.  Be careful: you'll be given two options: Sign in or  Register.    if you have a Kindle you've probably already registered so just sign back in.

Good luck. I hope this information spares someone the twelve hours or so that I spent trying to figure it out.

Hi, @user_36a62f. Thank you for creating a new post regarding your connection issues. There can be a few variables involved, and we can certainly help troubleshoot this further. I see @dvdrock had a similar issue and offered a great suggestion. How are things on your end so far? Have you tried any additional steps on your end?
