How do II set up http port forwarding on my Xfinity Gateway?

I want to set up port forwarding on my xfinity Gateway to my Apache http server. The admin tool at 10.0.0.1 doesn’t allow it (it says to use the App) and the App doesn’t list http as a “common application.” There is a “Manual Setup” option but I don’t know how to set that up.

Any advice on how to set up port forwarding to my Apache http server?

Thanks,

Scott

@XfinityThomasA thank you but as noted above, I have been following those instructions, and :

1. The Admin tool (10.0.0.1) does not allow this. The port forwarding page states: “

Managing your home network settings is now easier than ever.
Please download the Xfinity xFi app to set up port forwards, among many other features and settings.”

2. The xFi app does not have ‘http’ as a service in the selection list.

Is there a way to add Apache http server to the list? Or is there a manual way to accomplish this?

@scotts8747 Good question and thanks for explaining. The only way to expose the network or open a port is with your direct access. It is not something that is done outside the customer's control. There should be some port numbers that belong to the device in its instruction or user manual. Have you checked there or with the manufacturer for the manual steps? Also, have you rebooted the modem recently to ensure it has the latest patches?

@XfinityBenny I’m not sure what you mean ny ‘direct access.’ To clarify, I have a laptop I’m using as an Apache http server. Typically the port number is 80. So if the local IP address on my networks is 10.0.0.100, I’d want to forward port 80 requests to that IP address. Thanks, any ideas?

p.s. I’ve only had the Gateway for 1 month so I assume it’s up to date. It’s the xfinity mohile app that doesn’t list an http service, though there is a long list of games.

scotts8747 - Have you tried uninstalling and reinsatlling the app?

xFi users: Set up port forwarding - Add a port forward with an xFi Gateway:
Open the Xfinity app and sign in with your Xfinity ID and password.
Select the WiFi tab.
Select View WiFi equipment.
Select Advanced settings.
Select Port forwarding from the menu.
Select Add Port Forward.
Note: If you've previously set up a port forward from your Gateway's Admin Tool (http://10.0.0.1), you should see it listed in the Port Forwarding Settings.
Choose the household device for the port forward you're setting up from the drop-down list of connected devices.
Note: If you don't see the device listed, it may not be connected to your home network.
Choose from the list of common applications to use a recommended, preset configuration (e.g., Xbox or PlayStation) or select Manual Setup to enter specific port numbers, ranges and/or protocols.
Select Apply Changes to complete the setup of the port forward.
The device you set up for this port forward can now use these settings.
Note: If you're unsure which port settings to choose, reference the device manual or the application you're trying to use.
Opening unnecessary ports isn't recommended, as it may pose a security risk.

@XfinityThomasA yes, just did it again. Have you looked at the app? Do you see an http service listed?
