how do I disable advance to next message

If I delete a message, xfinity automatically opens the next message. Bad! Sometimes it's spam!

Good afternoon kclaerr1! Thank you for reaching out through our Xfinity Forums Community, welcome! I can totally understand the concern if a potential spam message is opened. Are you referring to the Xfinity email service? Is this happening when you already are in an open message and delete it?

Thanks for responding. I hope you can help. Yes, I'm using Xfinity Connect email. It is happening when I look through my email list. The list is on the left, but I can also see the body of the email on the right. If I don't want that email anymore, and I trash that email from the list, the next message is highlighted, and that next message appears on the right. This brought up a spam message on the right, and now get more junk mail. I don't believe that I opened the spam such that it came up in a separate, new window.

I just checked what happens if I have opened the email from the list, where message appears in a separate window. If I trash the message from that message screen, the same thing happens: the message is deleted, and the next message is highlighted, and appears on the right hand side of the screen.

Thanks for clarifying. Are you accessing your email via https://login.xfinity.com/login? Or are you accessing it via a mobile device through a third party e-mail program

The only way I see to prevent this is to change the View option (top-right corner) to List, which has no Preview pane. The Vertical and Horizontal List options do have a preview pane and will behave as you describe. List doesn't.
