My friends phone used 72% in 1 hour connected to my xfinity wifi while 3 of my devices for a day was 28% but she wasn't even on her phone only 1 hour. ???

That's not unusual - phones in particular do a lot of background work while the screen is idle. Especially when it goes from cellular to Wi-Fi, it'll start to do a lot of it because it assumes the WiFi is faster and has fewer bandwidth limitations. Some apps also have an always connected mode where they're constantly communicating with a server or other device.
No way to tell, though, without direct access to your friend's phone.
