Can't change wifi channel on the app nor gateway

I read all the articles about how to change wifi channel, but the fact my advanced setting in Xfinity XFi and the app don't have a setting for 2.4 and 5 GHz wifi. Also when I login to the admin gateway, it says that

Wi-Fi Mode, Security Mode, Channel Selection, Channel Mode, and Channel Bandwidth are being managed automatically to help optimize your home Wi-Fi network and improve Wi-Fi coverage.

However, I definiately need to change the channel since my switch does not support the channel that my 5 GHz is on, therefore, I cann't connect to 5 GHz on my switch.

Hello @user_6b5198! Thanks for sharing your experience. As a gamer myself, I know how important it is to get this fixed. How are you trying to access the admin portal? Can you follow this link and check out the instructions for connecting your device. Please pay special attention to step 4 and how to access the admin tool. Is this how you have been trying to change the settings?

@XfinityChe

Thank you for you reply!! I think was not being clear about my question. My switch was bought in Japan so it is not supporting some channels that US have. My 5 GHz was change itself to channel 157 but my switch doesn’t support that channel therefore I’m not able to connect. I will restart my modem so it changes the channel to something that my switch can connect like 36 however after awhile it changes back to 157 even I’m in the middle of a game. It is very annoying. I want my channel to be fixed to certain channel so I won’t lost connect during a game.

Thanks for providing these details, @user_6b5198! Just to ensure we are on the same page, are you using an XFINITY rented modem with your switch or a purchased modem?

Thanks for letting me know. Have you tried visiting our website and going to edit Wi-Fi settings to select different names and passwords to use the 2 different channels separately so your devices can connect to the 2.4 GHz channel?

Here is also a link for these steps. Please let me know if this helps. https://comca.st/3a5Yydh

I tried this but it won’t work if the 5GHz is on channel 157. My switch just won’t be able to connect to it. And all I want to do is to change the channel……..
