"Approve this sign in using a registered device" just spins
I open the Xfinity app on Android, I try to do stuff in it that requires a login, it sends me to login dot xfinity dot com, I tap to login, it shows a screen saying "Approve this sign in using a registered device" with a spinning circle around the keyshield icon, and... that's it. Nothing to continue. The spinner just spins forever and ever and ever.
I think what's supposed to happen is a fingerprint prompt is supposed to pop up. That's what happens on other apps (or sites?) like this.
What am I missing here? Is this a bug or what?
Yes I know I can use the suggested alternate login methods, which work fine. I'd rather use the first one because it seems easier.

@codelirious Thanks for creating a post on our Community Forums. I definitely agree that it is super convenient to be able to use the Face ID or fingerprint scan when possible. Have you checked all of these steps (Fingerprint and Facial ID) to make sure everything is set up properly on your device?

Oh, what can we do to see the "secret answer" to this common issue? Why has not Concast/xfinity posted the solution to this constantly recurring problem?
Honestly, in my few years of experience dealing with clients' Internet issues with Comcast/Xfinity Business Services, I found Business Customer Sevice Technicians to be efficient, informative, and effective.
Since I'm acquired Home Internet through concast/xfinity, I've concluded that concast/xfinity customers are "second string" when it comes to receiving complete, effective, or actually helpful information, forum answers, or technical assistance.
Concast "got its foot in the door" by effectively lobbying your municipality to become an exclusive franchise years ago. Only Federal Consumer Oriented legislation "freed up" the markets to have other choices for Internet providers (in some areas). If I am mistaken, please do correct me by providing the timeline and the "Facts & Figures" that will correct my premise. Concast has offshored their customer (dis)service chat and phone assistance. Another "good American Corporation" that is NOT truly supporting American citizens, just harvesting our dollars. Please correct me if I'm incorrect in my assessments of this business. I eagerly await an informative reply.

@XfinityThomasD
I've had the Xfinity app installed for over a year and get no approval prompt on the phone.
When I open the app, I get a blank white screen. I haven't used the app in a while though, so are we supposed to have used the app within a certain time period for the prompt to actually work? I don't know why the site would even sit there waiting for me to acknowledge a prompt that doesn't/won't happen.
Clearly something is wrong with Xfinity's implementation of this. At the very least it should have a link like you've just given showing what's supposed to happen or be set up.

I have this problem too each and every time I try to login on my notebook. I get nothing on my iPhone to help me authorize the login in and when I search for help articles I get a bad gateway error. I finally gave in and called for technical support for TVs and internet. Sometimes the Xfinity problems just snowball out of control in our area. It sounded like the stuff with the login is an app developer problem that needs fix.
