Transferring ownership of account

I've just moved out of an apartment, but one of my now former roommates has re-signed the lease. I already have Wifi at my new residence and, naturally, I would like for my former roommate to take over the Xfinity account. I (of course) can't speak to anyone over the phone about this issue, and none of the automated chat responses are helpful either. Most relevant forum posts are old enough that I am unsure if the process has changed.

Is the best option still to go to an Xfinity store with my old roommate and our IDs? Can it be done online? Is it even necessary, or can I just give the roommate the login information and allow him to change the personal information attached to the account?

Concern moved here to the Customer Service help section for greater exposure to Comcast corporate employees (The Digital Care Team) for assistance.

user_zy8bte, Hi there! Thanks for reaching out. I can understand the importance of transferring the account to our former roommate on the lease since you moved to a new place. Congrats on the move by the way. I am sorry to learn about this experience with our phone and chat support outlets. You've come to the right place for our team of experts to help with this over social media. You can go to the store or you can do it online with us. What I can do is have an email sent to you with a link to upload a completed account change request form and any necessary supporting documents. The change of account ownership may result in the disconnection of the existing account and the creation of a new account, depending on the scenario. Please also allow three business days from your time of submission for a representative to contact you about completing your account ownership change request. Here is a great link to more details on this process here. If you would like to go to the store to get this changed over, this is ok too as we would love to see you! Which would work best for you?

Thanks for the information! The online option would probably be most convenient for me, so an email with the docs would be great.
