"Phone number is already associated with an Xfinity account"

I have one Xfinity account and have had only that account for decades. Within that account, I have several e-mail address accounts. Some of those e-mail accounts show a phone number that I no longer use. When I try to change the number to my cell phone, I get the message "Phone number is already associated with an Xfinity account." I only have one phone number. Why can't all my e-mail addresses use the same phone number?

@Hi @Linda0214  - it's because the system is designed so there was a 1 user 1 Xfinity ID mapping. The secondary users were designed for actual unique individuals with their own unique email and mobile numbers, and so while customers may create multiple @comcast.net identities the third party email or mobile phone number, if already used and verified on the primary user, cannot be used on a secondary without first removing it from the primary

A mobile phone number attached to an Xfinity ID is considered unique and can only be used once (it's a password recovery method and needs to be unique). Many systems (Uber, Lyft, Venmo etc) all enforce this type of uniqueness when it comes to mobile numbers.

If you need help removing an existing number that's no longer the right number, feel free to message me directly with your account information.

Thank you, Jonathan. Yes, I would like to remove my phone number from our primary account and associate it with one of my secondary accounts. Please let me know how to message you directly about this.
