Phone number connected with an old account, cannot invite old account to new one because 'names must be unique'

1. When trying to add a phone number to my current Xfinity account, I am stopped because my 'Phone number is already associated with an Xfinity account'.

2. Following the solution outlined in this older forum post, I attempted to invite my old account with 'Member' role to my current account at this invite page URL.

3. After entering all information, I am unable to click 'Send': beneath the entry for 'Last name', I have a red box error with the text 'Names must be unique'.

What's my path forward here? Change the name on my old account and try again?

 Click "Sign In" if necessary
  • Click the "Direct Message" icon (upper right corner of this page)
  • Click the "New message" (pencil and paper) icon
  • Type "Xfinity Support" in the to line and select "Xfinity Support" from the drop-down list
  • Type your message in the text area near the bottom of the window
  • Press Enter to send your message
