Best way to cancel service?

I have read horror stories about canceling their xfinity service,  only to continued to be billed.  So I was wondering what the best way is to ensure that doesn't happen?  Ideally I would continue to use xfinity for internet,  but fiber has come to the area and is $25 less per month for the same download speed (1gig) and symmetric upload.  I have attempted multiple times to chat with xfinity about just  matching their commercials and get the 1Gig for $85 and have been told $100 is what is available for me.
