Xfinity reject to unlock my iPhone
I am a customer for xfinity for years and i get my phone with them every couple of years. I travel to italy multiple times every year. I called to unlock my iPhone so i can use it there during my trip but they said no. They said the phone must be paid in full in order to unlock. They kep saying this is the policy. I don’t care what is the policy I care about my needs. What is the point of not allowing me to use my phone overseas. Was not happy at all and will switch to another carrier once my contract is over

Hello and thank you for taking the time to reach out to us here on our Xfinity Forums. I'm truly sorry for the frustration this has caused. In order for a device to be unlocked it would need to be paid in full, there are certain circumstances that we can unlock devices for active military members. This link will provide more details on the eligibility criteria to have a phone unlocked: https://www.xfinity.com/mobile/support/article/eligible-to-unlock-phone#:~:text=To%20unlock%20your%20phone%20before%20it's%20fully%20paid%20off%3A,up%20for%20Xfinity%20Mobile%20service.

Yes, this is a problem with xfinity phones that are purchased on the 24 month payment plan. While some carriers will unlock a phone on such payment plans for people who need to travel overseas, xfinity does not. I think the issue is that once a phone is unlocked, it cannot be 're-locked'. Though I cannot understand why keeping the phone locked to them really helps since the ongoing payments will still be due no matter what.
It would be nice if Xfinity reconsidered their unlocking rules to be more competitive with other providers.

How long does. It take to get our phones unlocked and specifically, and what is the reason?
