Why does xfinity not offer family member setup for iwatch with cellular

Help!! Bought this new iwatch and have been on the phone for 2+ hours only to be told to go into the store. I was there for another 1.5 hours and no simple resolution. My daughter does not have a cell phone but wanted her to have a watch for gps / cellular functionality. Was told only possible for link to my phone number why?!!! Other companies offer this. Finally activated her as me but then all my texts were going to her watch. How can I just have her set up? Do I need to switch providers? Ugh!!! help!!!

You would need family mode which per their website isn’t supported at this time

I get that but why does xfinity not offer this when all other providers do? I even tried setting up as my watch but stuck with calls and texts going to her phone which is not something I want

Below is a link to carriers who support family setup:

https://www.apple.com/watch/cellular/#table-family-setup

I don't see any MVNOs in the list, so I doubt that XM will provide family setup anytime soon, if ever. XM doesn't even support any watches other than Apple watches.

Apparently there is at least one recent solution available from Truphone, and maybe even other providers? It's $9.99 per month for unlimited data, voice, and SMS. See below:

If you are really brave and have eligible watches, then go for it, and let the rest of know if you are successful.

No U.S. MVNO’s offer family setup. I have xfinity mobile and have xfinity on my personal Apple Watch as well. However, for my son’s standalone cellular Apple Watch with family setup, I signed up with Verizon. It’s a little over $13/mo with taxes/fees. AT&T, Verizon and T-Mobile offer family setup and they don’t charge more if you already don’t have service with them.

@Jackbfu I just texted with a Verizon rep this am who told me if I have cell service with xfinity mobile then they cannot offer me a watch for my son to be used on Verizon cellular attached to my xfinity cellular phone plan.   Was this different for you??? I’m getting so frustrated.

I have found xfinity to be very anti-family anything. We got our kids a gizmo watch and flip phone through Verizon because xfinity does not offer alternatives for kids. We decided we did not like having two separate cell phone bills so I bought them watches to do the family share that apple advertised only to find out xifinity doesn't support this either. We will probably just go back to Verizon as a family as xfinity clearly doesn't support families that want to keep their kids safe.
