Why can’t my iPhone 14 be held at FedEx facility for pickup?

My iPhone 14 was delivered to my house while I was on vacation. Restrictions were put in place that did not allow me to arrange have the iPhone 14 held at FedEx location until I got back. Why? It doesn’t make any sense at all.

Xfinity ships phones with a signature requirement. If they attempt delivery, your package will be held at the FedEx facility until they make another delivery attempt. After that, I assume that FedEx will hold the package until you pick it up.

I assumed that they would hold it too. Xfinity does not allow FedEx to hold it, unless you can get to the FedEx facility by 8pm the same day they attempt to deliver it. If you don’t have anyone that can be there or pick it up the same day that a delivery attempt was made it will be sent back to Xfinity after the third attempt. I will just have to go to the Xfinity store at some point, I guess.

@user_a2902f Just to confirm, was the package delivered even with no signature? That shouldn't have happened unless you gave Fedex the permission to deliver anyway. Have you been able to get a hold of Fedex to see what happened?

No. My issue is that I tried to make an arrangement with FedEx to hold the iPhone 14 at a FedEx facility until I came back from vacation. I was told that Xfinity does not allow FedEx to hold it at their facility, due to liability issues.

@user_a2902f Really sorry about all of that. Have you tried calling or texting 1 (888) 936-4968, or reached out to our secure online chat at https://comca.st/3xToGRM where an XM expert is available 24/7 to hopefully help with this situation?

I did try calling Xfinity. They didn’t change their policy. I was able to arrange to be home for the time range that FedEx provided for their 3rd and final delivery attempt.

@user_a2902f It is great to hear that you were able to schedule a drop-off time that will work for you to ensure the delivery of your device. We understand that not being able to have your device dropped off without a signature may potentially make receiving your order harder, but it is to ensure you receive your beautiful phone. Speaking from my own experience, there have been multiple times when I was expecting a device and even received confirmation that it was delivered but never actually received anything. It can turn an experience from good to bad quickly and that is the last thing we want for any of our customers. If you would like we can set up a follow-up with you to ensure you receive your device and answer any activation questions you may have upon arrival. Would that be something you are interested in?

I am having a the same issue. I cannot be home and want to hold at FedEx but they must attempt to deliver first before I can pickup at FedEx. Comcast must contact FedEx before I can I pickup. Very inconvenient. Why this cannot be delivered to my place of work? I am here to sign for it. Delivered was delayed on Friday. I was told I come pickup it up on Saturday but received no notification, out from delivery today and I cannot be home.
