USPS may have lost trade in - next steps

My trade in might be lost. I’ve initiated a lost mail search with the USPS, but how do I make sure that I get my trade in credit if the USPS can’t find the phone? Assurant didn’t purchase insurance, so the package only has $100 of coverage (USPS Ground Advantage) - it’s a $700 phone. The package was scanned in by USPS, so I can show that it was shipped by me.

Good morning user_d0h1w1. How long ago was the lost package search setup? Normally that is a pretty quick process, and did the tracking information show delivered, or did the updates freeze at a certain leg of the delivery process?

It was set up on 10/3/25. The last update was on 10/1 and it just shows that the package is enroute to the next destination. The first and last scan was on 9/27.
