Service in Canada, different depending on phone?

My wife and I just spent a week in Nova Scotia. Both of us are on the Xfinity mobile plan. Her phone would connect to the Bell cell network whenever there was a signsl; mine never did....just showed 0 bars and an "X" the whole time. She has an iPhone 7, I have an LG X-Charge; both were purchased through Xfinity mobile when we enrolled in the plan. Any explanation for that? Or is my phone just inferior?
