Send direct message

I want to send the support team a direct message. From a thread earlier this year, the Xfinity rep said: "In the top right corner, you'll see a little chat icon near the bell icon. Click the direct message icon." I cannot find the chat icon or a direct message icon ANYWHERE on the site. Where is it & why is it SO hard to find?
