Samsung S22 Unlocked purchased from Samsung US shows as incompatible

I'm trying to activate a S22 Unlocked (Model SM-S901U1) I purchased directly from Samsung in the US. The compatibility checker says my device is incompatible. Something doesn't sound right. It's an unlocked US model.

just had the same experience IN THE STORE with a fold 4 purchased through Samsung.  Unlocked, US model, because the Model number ends in U1 (factory unlocked) it is not "yet" compatible.   Store recommendation:  Keep checking on-line until it says compatible.   And as an FYI, factory unlocked works just fine on Verizon.   Which is xfinities network partner, soooooo   THANKS XFINITY!!  good job

I dealt with this several years ago when the note20ultra came out.  I forgot how much that P####ed me off back then and I dont remember how long it took to correct.   I do remember finally just moving the sim over, and eventually Xfinity did a switch.   My mobile account still shows my device as a note9, with a note:  SIM is now paired with a different device.    I think it was about 6 months after the device launch that it finally was compatible.   They like to claim it is because of network compatibility/ software issue, but that just does not make sense if an unlocked phone from another carrier can be ported.  And good luck ever getting anything more than "the computer shows it as not compatible"  for an answer.

oh and every time I check compatibility via phone or PC, any browser, I get

Sorry, looks like we're having some technical difficulties

How do I get around THAT

I just love it....

I just checked my CURRENT phone, which was a samsung factory unlocked Note 20 and is running very nicely.  It shows as not compatible!!!!!

I think that clearly proves the compatibility checker is a waste

from 2 years ago, just substitute the new samsung model into it

"in general, unlocked Samsung Galaxy Note20 5G and Note20 Ultra 5G unlocked devices purchased from Samsung or other retailers are compatible on our network. What is not compatible yet are those devices purchased from other carriers like Verizon or T-Mobile etc. We need a software update from Samsung to make them compatible and it usually comes 3 to 6 months after launch. We are trying to reduce that time with Samsung. "

What exactly does compatible mean?  I used an iphone to go through the activation and then swapped my sim into my fold 4 and it has worked without any issue for the last 2 months.

@user_dj123 great question.   I did the same with my Note20,  but had heard that Comcast was now doing IMEI linking and checks that would cause service disruption if I just swapped into the new phone.
