Samsung S20 FE

This is more of a request than a question. Please add the Samsung S20 FE to your compatibility lineup. I, and it sounds like others on this forum, purchased this last week because it was an affordable option in the Samsung "S" series so of course, Xfinity will support it only, you don't. Was in an Xfinity store thinking I could get that done there and learned the bad news after about a 1/2 hour of trying. And so now I have to have accessible WiFi wherever I go because mobile (cellular) data doesn't work; and because I do not get "push" voicemails, I will have to manually call voicemail each time I have a missed call.

For those of you who are with me on this please @ Xfinity and ComcastCares on Twitter to keep this request going. I have traded in my old S9 already so this is my phone and I want Xfinity to remain my mobile provider but I'm not sure I can do that for 75% usage of a phone

Thanks!

Just to clarify, did you take the working SIM out of your S9 and then add that to the new S20 FE and it didn't work properly?  And also, you got the "unlocked" S20 FE rather than the Verizon version, correct?

I'm also interested but want to make sure I know what I'm getting in to.

Bought the unlocked version from Samsung, took the working SIM out of my S9. Did some phone tests: it all worked, or so I thought. Then I was out and about a couple days later and noticed I didn't have data when not connected to a WiFi. Oddly enough, I did get maps and was able to place and receive calls and texts, just no cellular data. I looked into it and got directed to the APN screen where I saw I did have the wrong APN, tried to change it but it was greyed it. Called Xfinity but that was no help so I went into the store yesterday to get the bad news. That's where I noticed that Voicemail also didn't work as intended (I get it, but it won't push notifications to tell me I have a VM, I just have to call in to find out).

Thank you, I will skip it for now then. Some people had success but I don't want to take the risk until it's ironed out.

I had same issue. I purchased an unlocked US version of the S20 FE 2 days ago after my S9+ got ran over. Took out working sim, placed in new phone and it seemed that everything was working great while I was on my Xfinity home wifi network. When I left the house and wifi wasn't within range, my phone had no data connection at all but I could still make calls and text. I called customer support and he tried resetting my network connections then told me that even though the phone is unlocked Xfinity mobile does NOT support that phone UNLESS you purchase it from them. So now I'm stuck with a $700 brand new phone that partially works. Very DISSAPOINTING!

But you can't purchase it from them because they're not selling it. I was told if they would start offering it, they would let us do the bring your own device thing and make them work.

@ them on all the social media platforms - we need to convince them to support this phone!

Put it back in S9 and move data back to it and then move it over again. Mine stopped working too after I did a factory restart. After I moved data back to S8+ with Sim card back in it I then took it out again and put back in S20 FE and it has been working since

Yes, I removed working SIM from my old Samsung S8+ that still had(s) service. I purchased the unlocked phone from Samsung directly. I believe the CMDA unlocked....

I also purchased the phone, but prior to purchase I called and asked a Xfinity rep if it was compatible and was told all S20 models are compatible. I purchased the phone and my wife called to get it ported over and the rep kept asking for SIM card on new phone; which didn't exist so I switched it over to new S20 FE 5 G and voila it worked. That is for two weeks until I did a factory restart on my phone to send back for Samsung credit. I then went to Xfinity Mobile store and they tried for 2.5 hours to port my phone over only to come back and say we are sorry, but this phone isn't supported. Needless to say I was not happy that I called to check prior to purchase and they gave me a $100 credit; which in no way covered the $779 it cost after tax. (Would have been $200 less but I couldn't send S8+ back will explain why in next sentence) After I got home I then removed SIM card from my new S20 FE and put it back in S8+ and brought all of my data back and then removed SIM card and put back in S20 FE and now guess what everything works again! So basically I am out $100 and my phone works at least temporarily; however per Xfinity it still shows service is with S8+. This was not a good experience and I wish Xfinity better trained their reps so they don't pass along bad information to customers. I also hope Xfinity offers the Samsung S20 FE soon. If my "fix" stops working they will lose my family and I as mobile and internet customers.

Huh. That explains why I appear to have mobile data now on my phone - there is now an LTE showing up in the upper corner that wasn't there before. However, I am still not getting my voicemail notification pushes - I have to call into VM once a day to make sure I didn't miss anything.

This would just be a WHOLE lot easier if Xfinity made this Samsung Galaxy S20 variation compatible. Especially since, like you, I was led to believe (not as explicitly as you, it sounds like) that there wouldn't be any issues with me purchasing this phone for BYOD

So I bought this at Best Buy (next to an Xfinity Store) thinking it would work fine since you can activiate this on Verizon if you wanted to.  The IMEI number on the box failed their online checker so I never left the store with it to go sign up for service with XM.  I seem lucky when reading these other postings.

Does anyone know if the verizon variant of it would work on XM?

The cost of this phone is the same as XM A71 which is pretty far apart when it comes to specs and quality.

Same experience.  Purchased this phone, transferred the SIM card, everything works except mobile data.   I cant believe that XFinity will never support this model, as it is very popular already.

I got it to start working.  Not sure exactly what did the trick, but I think part of the problem was just being in an area with a weak signal.

I assumed that if I could make a call and text, I should not have a problem connecting to the internet with mobile data.  When I started testing this an area with better signal, the problem disappeared.

I also went into Settings, connections, mobile data, access point names and made sure the option for Xfiniity was checked.

I have mobile data now too, also don't know how. BUT I do not have Voicemail push notifications, I have to call VM everyday to make sure there nothing new that I'm missing. Obviously I'm making due, but it would still be great if Xfinity decided to just support this phone!

DID YOU HEAR THEY WILL NEVER SUPPORT THIS PHONE?

I was told explicitly that all S20 models were fine. Bought the unlocks FE from Samsung - did the smart switch and took both phones to the Xfinity store. They moved the SIM card - all good and working, data etc.
That was 2 weeks ago - now I see I have no VM waiting indicator and when I load the visual voice mail app - it's not compatible with this phone - apparently there is a preloaded app to use. But it says call Xfinity. SO I called - worked w/ Support and did a Network Reset. That did not work with and now I have lost mobile data - and they say the phone is not supported - Several tech support calls later - the SIM pairing is broken due to the network reset - we are actively trying to fix this.

This is a nightmare!
