Samsung Galaxy S10 (Unicorn) not working with Xfinity

For the past three weeks I've been trying to port my Samsung Galaxy S10 over so we can all join Xfinity mobile.    I have not been successful.

I've been told many reasons from Xfinity Support, Best Buy, Verizon and Samsungdotcom about why I may be having problems.  Verizon said the phone is unlocked and ready to be ported.  Xfinity says I have incompatible technology.  Samsungdotcom says there is no reason the phone can't be supported on Xfinity.  Xfinity supports says it's because I bought it from Best Buy.  I've heard the that particular reason twice.

I've tested with the IME numbers, four different S10s, two at the Verizon store, and two at Best Buy.  And all those could be ported according to Xfinity's own web checker.  But mine, that I've had for only a few months, can not.

The latest theory today is that my S10 ends in a 'U' which makes it an open market phone or something like that.  It makes no sense to me why I can port four S10's, two from Best Buy, and mine from Best Buy won't port.

I'm running out of ideas.

I just bought an unlocked Samsung Galaxy S10 model number SM g97 3U on Amazon
when I got the phone I took my SIM card out of my Galaxy s8 which was from Xfinity and I put it in my Galaxy S10 and my phone works fine. They told me I needed to get a new SIM card so that the right IME number is on my account. So I went to the Xfinity site to punch in my IME number and it says my phone is not compatible I was going to get a new SIM card and put it in the phone now I'm wondering if I shouldn't get a nuisance card and just keep using my phone since it works fine.

I did the same thing I had a Galaxy s8 with Xfinity mobile when I got my new Galaxy S10 SM G973u unlocked phone from Amazon actually I misquoted saying I got it on eBay on another message I typed .When I took the Xfinity mobile sim card from my Galaxy s8 and put it in this phone the S10 the phone is working fine but they told me I need to get a new SIM card so my IME number is on my account not the Samsung Galaxy s8 IME number now I'm wondering if I should order a new SIM card maybe the phone won't work doesn't make too much sense but who knows.

After recieving a new xm sim card from xfinity I put it in my Samsung Galaxy S10 and went to activate it and was told they cannot activate it because it's incompatible with xm and there is no way around it they cannot activate it . Not sure why they sent me the sim card when they new I couldn't activate it. I was told over the phone I could use it they just wouldn't guarantee the service and I said that's fine.So for anyone else considering this phone which says fully unlocked for both cdma and gsm networks look for a new service if you want this phone. Model SM-G973U . I like Xfinity Mobil but don't want to return phone and find one that will work since I won't know the ime # until purchasing phone. I was going to switch to T-Mobile but they wouldn't waive activation fee. They give all kinds of stuff to people switching to there service but they won't wave activation charge to switch .

I have 2 Galaxy S10+ phones, both:

  1. were purchased directly from Samsung factory unlocked,
  2. have model number SM-G975U1

The Xfinity IMEI checker tells me that one is compatible and one is not.

What gives?  😧

I just bought an S10e unlocked directly from Samsung and Xfinity Mobile is saying it is not compatible.  Is it true that all models ending in U1 are not compatible, why is that, and do all phones bought from Samsung end in U1?

What became of this?

I have a s10+ that I bought from xfinity a year ago and when I put in its IMEI into the BYOD checker, it says not compatible - yet it came from xfinity.

I just purchased an unlocked s10+ from Samsung last week that has the same model number sm-g975u as my current xfinity s10+, the BYOD tool also says not compatible. Do I return this new phone?

Dont hold your breath, I tried to bring my Samsung phone over a year ago still not compatible. Too bad for me and others with relatively new phones that wish to switch.

Xfinity Mobile has some of the best service plans, but they treat there existing customers like second class citizens. They operate like a cable company only giveing new customers the breaks on new samsung phones. All the other Cell companys give the breaks to there existing customers. Also there customer service is not on the top of the list. With that said there cell service works just fine. I stay with them because of the price on the plans. I would like a new phone because mine is almost out of memory. But I refuse to pay more for it then a new customer would pay. When my phone gets so slow that it cant function I will have to switch services to get a phone I can afford. Wake up Xfinity Mobile start treating your loyal customers better.

I'm sure the problem is in the XM SIM card, which can't program S# phones correctly!  An S# phone should work with XM SIM for the first time.  However, whenever a TMO/ATT or other SIM is inserted, this S# phone will be programed following that non-XM SIM so no more XM service with any XM SIM untill an XM firmware reflash.  VERIZON SIM can program S# phone correctly, but XM SIM can't as it's programed differntly.  Hope VERIZON/SAMSUNG can help XM to fix their SIM programming, seems not easy, or stay away from S#, or remember don't try any different SIM card in S#.

I am trying to find a Samsung s10 that will work with XM.  The one I am going to buy is brand new in the box, it was a verizon phone but is unlocked.  I ran IMEI and said it is not compatible even tho the phone is BRAND new and the box has not even been opened.
