no one tells you that porting your number will take several days so you will be without service unless you have Google voice and WiFi access. The new carrier (if one of big 5 companies) can provide a secondary number in the meantime.
Xfinit transfer port out numbers are good for 24hours so be sure your new provider has inputted this information first.
