Permanent Caller ID Blocking
I've had Xfinity Mobile for several years now. One of the lines on my account has always been a private number, i.e. when that line makes an outgoing call it shows up as either "No Caller ID", "Private", or "Unknown" depending on the device that receives the call. Upon opening the account, I had to contact customer service to make this change since it's not an option in the Apple settings with Xfinity Mobile as a carrier.
Every couple of months - sometimes 3, sometimes 6 - this line reverts back to its original settings and the phone number information shows again. Then I have to go through the process of contacting customer service once again to make the change. Usually this means explaining myself to 5-6 different people. It's exhausting. It takes multiple calls to resolve the issue, and even then it's never fully permanent as it reverts back again within a few months.
This last time I've been trying unsuccessfully for THREE WEEKS (and that is not an overstatement, it's been three freaking weeks of intermittently making calls to customer service ) to make adjustments to this line. Each representative offers a different solution: Reset the network settings on the phone, restart the phone, wait up to 24 hours for the network to refresh, etc. The last representative in tier 2 actually transferred me to Apple because they were insistent that it was not a setting that Xfinity could change, but it was Apple's fault somehow.
Here I am again, three hours later, still on hold and hoping to resolve this issue.
I'm complete and utterly exhausted by it. I'm not doing anything wrong. Xfinity literally says to contact customer service to have them make this simple change. I am honestly just moments away from switching to a different carrier - perhaps I'll find one that doesn't drop my phone calls constantly, too.
Has anyone had any kind of resolution with this problem? It's such a basic, stupid thing. Yet I've literally spent probably a good 24 hours on the phone in the last three years for this one issue alone just to have it un-done again without any warning. HELP!
UPDATE: The geniuses at customer service have manages to set every single mobile line EXCEPT FOR THE ONE I SPECIFICALLY ASKED FOR to private caller ID. So now I get to start the process of dealing with inept representatives ALL OVER AGAIN.
