New Incompatibility of Xfinity Visual Voicemail for Android

I am using a Samsung Galaxy S22 and have been through the VVM wringer one too many times. Today the app popped up a screen informing me that I needed to update the app in Google Play. Following the link took me to the Google Play Store with and option to uninstall or open the app, but no update. I tried a few times with no change. I then uninstalled the app and installed again, but it kept me in a loop of popup screens and returned to the original notice that gets me nowhere. I then uninstalled and rebooted, then installed an older version (2.9.0.007) from an APK source. This version is working fine. If I check the Play Store for app updates, it tells me I can update VVM to the new version 2.10.0.006. This is the version that will not work. Is there any way to make the newer version work, or to force Play Store to ignore that update?

This morning both of our phones received the software update to the January 1 security patch. After completing the update, I then updated Xfinity Mobile Voicemail to the same current version as before (2.10.0.006) and it is now working properly on both devices, including the visual voicemail transcription. I did have to go back into settings to enable transcription again for some reason. Case closed, for now.

@requa is there a way to know if you received the January 1 security patch? I'm beyond tired of my visual voicemail not working. I have an S9 and was going up upgrade to an s22 but now I do not see the point. I rely on getting the voicemail transcripts and the third party services are clunky to use and involve all that voicemail forwarding. I'm debating dropping Xfinity mobile, I know I'll end up paying more elsewhere but at least I'll be able to get voicemail the way I should.

my phone's Samsung voicemail doesn't even tell me if I have a voicemail, I suspect there's something about the Xfinity voicemail app that blocks it. I can only uninstall the updates to the app, not the app itself and if I uninstall the updates and go into system and disable the app it still doesn't give me Samsung voicemail notifications.

and maybe my phone is too old to receive the security patch?

Update: I spent an hour or more on combined calls with Comcast, then Comcast Advanced Care, then conferenced in with Samsung, but was unable to get this resolved. The techs reprovisioned my voicemail and my wife's, we uninstalled and reinstalled a few times, and still not getting past the screen advising me to update. Samsung support remoted into one of the phones and did some troubleshooting, identified some potential issues with VoLTE connectivity, but ultimately was unable to get any further. Samsung referred me to the nearest U-break I-fix location for hands-on troubleshooting. For now, I have uninstalled the current app and reinstalled the old version from an APK source. This at least works to provide access to visual voicemail transcription. I'm hoping our S22s will finally get the January update soon and maybe that will do something. Fingers crossed.
