New Customer from AT&T - Maiden name showing up when calling from 7+ years ago

We switched from AT&T Saturday.  Before we switched when someone called on any cells on the account Wife's current married last name showed, actualy on all lines..i.e the account holder.......

Once we moved the cell to Xfinity it seems to have picked up her old maiden name from 7+ years ago.  The online chat person simply said we do not support name ID, went to my local store and they looked in multiple places without any idea. My wifes current name is on both the normal account and the Cell account.  My wife changed her last name several years back.

Is there an old Ghost account from this address before we were married in the systems?  She had Comcast a long time ago....

Is there a natinal registery that has her old maiden name?

Any ideas how to get this fixed she would be appreciated very much!

Thank you!

I think you kind of answered your own question. So I think this is what is happening:

1.) In the old days before cell phones and before porting of phone numbers between carriers was allowed, carriers would help keep the "central +1 U.S." databases current with the carrier and caller name for each caller ID (aka phone number).
2.) Now carriers are not required to send the caller name, nor are they required to keep caller names updated in any central databases.
3.) While you were with AT&T Wireless they were sending both your AT&T caller ID and caller name. It's the same for most of the major carriers, landline and wireless, depending on your plan or their policy.
4.) Xfinity Mobile, as with some other MVNOs or small carriers, does not send caller name, only caller ID.

5.) It's the carriers who determine what is shown when you receive a call. If the call was sent with a caller name the carrier may or may not use the caller name, and it may or may not attempt to lookup the caller name in a legacy central database if the caller name was not sent with the call.
6.) Since XM does not send the caller name, when the call is received by some landlines and some cellular lines that still lookup caller names from legacy databases, the receiving phone line may get ghost data.

The bottom line is that you should Google how to get rid of the legacy ghost caller names. Apparently there are companies that offer to fix the problem for a price?

Good luck.

I have another thought since the original phone number was probably a landline.

So here goes: Determine the carrier and customer support phone number for each of the receiving numbers that are showing the old maiden name. Obviously you cannot just call 611 since you will get Xfinity Mobile. Now call a carrier customer support number and ask them what name shows up, and if it is the old name ask the carrier to fix it and explain that XM did not send a name, so it's their caller name (CNAM) database that needs to be fixed. Ask for tier 2 or further technical support if necessary.

If you are able to get one carrier to fix the caller name it may propogate through some of the other carriers?
