MMS over WiFi Not Working Since Forced Update on 2/9/2020 - Samsung S9+ on Android 10

I know, this is far from the only message thread on this. Here is the situation:

I've actually never turned mobile-data on since purchasing the phone from xfinity-mobile about 2 years ago. Never had a problem sending or receiving MMS whenever I was connected to WiFi and with mobile-data turned off. This saves a boatload of $$ and is a major differentiator when on a pay-by-the-gig plan (though I do wish Xfinity-mobile had not done away with the Gen1 plans that gave you 100 meg free.....ah the bill for 2 phones before that just going away was a whopping $5.86/month). The text messaging app that came pre-installed on the phone was/is Verizon Message+. The current version of that app is 6.9.13.

Immediately after the push-update was installed on 2/9/2020, I was, and have been, unable to send MMS when connected to WiFi with mobile-data turned OFF.

I tried installing Google Messages (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.android.apps.messaging) based on some feedback in a different message thread as a possible "fix" and no change. So uninstalled Google Messages and am now back using Verizon's Message+

Any thoughts/ideas on what to try? Seems mileage, and fixes, do vary depending on hardware platform, version of Android, etc.

workaround ideas:  Allow the cellular radio to connect to the tower for 30 seconds or so -  just enough to send a tiny textual MMS so it won't cost you more than a few bytes of data.        This can sometimes seem to "unblock" the much-more-data/photo MMSes from transiting via wifi .  ( Before you run the test you can delete any pending/unsent/stopped-up outbound MMSes to ensure they do not transit over cellular, but you probably can't stop any which are inbound via the cellular readio)

Reboot the phone after every time you change any settings which relate to MMS/wifi/cellular-radio.

Good thought on the workaround/ban-aid. That's been how I've been getting MMS out when I need to. FYI - data only transmits as long as I have mobile-data ON & rebooting doesn't help.

Another temporary band-aid I have is place is an auto-reply for all text messages basically saying thanks for the msg, I'll get back to you as soon as possible, and if an attachment/picture was sent to please re-send that to me in email.

Hoping all that will eventually just be temporary.

All thoughts, comments and suggestions are encouraged and welcome!

any luck since march?  i've been able to use Verizon plus until this last update (8/3/20)...now that doesn't work for sending out mms without wifi and mobile data off....it seems xfinity closed the one last loop whole. i can use the stock message app to send MMs over wifi
