Is my Apple iPhone 6 now "unlocked" after I upgraded to XR?

Went to xFinity store a few weeks ago and bought new iPhone XR.  The previous phone was an iPhone 6.  The clerk in the store swapped my service to the new XR, and of course the old iPhone 6 no longer has service.  If I want to sell the iPhone 6 (or give it away), is that phone now "unlocked"?  I wiped out all the data and apps from the old phone and when you turn it on now it starts the setup menus, etc.
