How do I transfer xfinity mobile phone and number to new carrier?

I was trying to follow the directions here:

"How to change or cancel your Xfinity Mobile service"

https://www.xfinity.com/cancel/mobile

Under "Need help transferring your phone?"

  1. Sign in to your Xfinity Mobile account and go to the Devices tab.
  2. Select the device associated with the phone number you want to transfer to a new carrier.
  3. Scroll down the page to transfer your number, cancel this line.
  4. Select Learn More.

But I didn't even see anything that said "transfer your number, cancel this line."

UPDATE: I had to click on the devices tab to see "cancel this line", but now I need to know how to know if number lock is on and turn it off it is. I'm also having trouble finding the Xfinity app for Android that I seem to need to do that.

UPDATE 2: My device is not compatible with the Xfinity App. What can I do? Visit an Xfinity store?

@user_dx249 Xfinity Mobile doesn't enable number lock by default. That is something you can do in the Xfinity app, or by contacting them. You can proceed with port out without problem.

@user_dx249 Thank you for visiting our community forum with your questions about porting your number. I'm heartbroken to see you go, but I understand that change is necessary at times. Have you already started mobile service with your new provider?

If you're leaving Xfinity Mobile for another carrier, you can begin service with your new carrier. Nothing else to do. When you transfer your number, your Xfinity Mobile service will automatically be canceled. If you're transferring your number, don’t cancel your Xfinity Mobile service before activation with your new carrier. It will stop the transfer request and forfeit your number. You can learn more here.

Technically I have made my first payment with my new provider even though I don't seem have a number or phone with them (I added a line/started a family plan). I have two new questions. 1.) How can I get my Xfinity mobile account number without the Xfinity app? The new provider asked for it and the Xfinity mobile app doesn't support my current phone. 2.) If I need to, can I use the Xfinity app on one of my other (Non-xfinity) phones to get the account number?

@user_dx249 I'm glad you're asking questions so we can set you up for success :). Is your Xfinity Mobile service still active? If so, you can find the account number by following these steps. If your Xfinity Mobile account is already closed, we will need to get that set back up in order to keep your phone number and port it to another carrier.

Yes, the Xfinity Mobile service is still active. Okay, even that article says "You will not be able to view your Xfinity Mobile account number on this page." when it comes to "Account and Identity."

So is there a way I can just sign into the Xfinity mobile app on an AT&T phone to get my Xfinity mobile account number?

I might add can I just deactivate my Xfinity mobile account? I read something about that on the Xfinity website. What does that do?

Have you tried accessing the Xfinity Mobile Portal through a web browser? I found my account number by logging in, going to My Account, View Billing, and accessing the latest billing statement.

Thanks. I never knew about that portal. I guess I was on My Account, clicked View Billing, and accessed the latest billing statement, but I still couldn't find my account number.

Update: I found it. Thanks. It took some digging.

FYI...in my experience, its best to visit an Xfinity store for almost everything.  They experience many times a week what is new and perplexing to us.  And you can get certain deals and discounts "in store" that you can't get online.   There is usually a wait, but it's worth it.   Also, its best to visit an Xfinity store that's owned by Comcast corporate.  Not a franchise store.  I went into a franchise last week, who sent me 7 miles up the road to an Xfinity corporate-owned store, because they couldn't solve my phone upgrade problem.  (Neither could the corporate store, but at least they were able to put me on the right track for a solution...I HOPE.)  -Allen 1.30.2025
