For those wondering why Xfinity's incoming Universal Caller ID feature stopped working on their iPhone (5G Models Only)!
For any of you that may not be familiar with this, it's a feature provided for free to us by Xfinity Mobile, which is originally serviced by Verizon. I believe Xfinity Mobile calls it "Call Filter".
I apologize in advance, but I'm not sure if it's available on Android. I've only seen it work on iPhones.
It's basically the equivalent of how your landline phone caller ID would work back in the day, where it would display the name of the caller on your phone, even if they aren't in your contact list. Your iPhone will mimic this amazing feature. If it's just a spam or robo call, your phone will show "Robo Caller". If neither, your phone will most likely display the name of the person who pays the phone bill of the person calling. I LOVE THIS FEATURE.
I recently noticed that this feature stopped working on my new iPhone 12 Pro, and it took me weeks to figure out a solution. I searched thru forum after forum with no luck.
Well, today I figured it out. If your iPhone is set to "5G On", under Setting > Cellular > Cellular Data Options, then this is what is causing the Universal Caller ID feature to stop working. You can switch this option to either "5G Auto", or "LTE", and BOOM your Universal Caller ID feature will work again. As a note, I suggest stick to "5G Auto" if you care about utilizing your 5G coverage. If not, you'll be fine.
I wanted to post this to help that small fraction of people out there that may be experiencing this exact same issue, and don't know where to turn. I hope this helps someone! Sorry for the long post!
