Dual eSIM restrictions

So I’m traveling to Europe this week and had planned to simply use a second eSIM (I’ve got the IPhone 15 which can do that) but have just found out that “locked” means you can’t even use a data only eSIM in another country. This is the stupidest thing I’ve heard in a while.

Why, when I’m under contract, paying my bill, and still using my xfinity SIM should I not be able to use a second for a week? Still paying off my phone, but once again I’m under contract with them, not leaving their service.

has anyone else here found a way around this? No way I’m paying for their roaming, it’s stupid costly, more than 10x the cost of a temporary data SIM.

You never got an answer, but I'd like to know too.  The phone is locked until you pay it off, so it can't be used with anything but the home network.
