Did I get scammed?

My cable promotion ran out and I called to try to get a new one. Spent 2 hours chatting with someone and kept getting cut off. I'd go throught the motions to start another chaat and was finally offered a "next Gen" 5 year package thqt included a free iPAD. Didn't care about the iPAD, but it was supposedly free. My credit card got charged $20.83 plus $33.12 sales tax totl $53.95 that I didn't authorize. The Ipad was shipped to a New Jersey address. I live in Michigan. I called local Xfinity store and was told I got scammed and they would file a ticket on it. Also my cable account got changed to something I never approved. They said they changed it back and I would get an email, but I never did. At this point I don't know what service I have or what it costs.
