Cell service doesn’t come back after airplane mode with Wifi.

Every night I put my phone into airplane mode with Wifi and Do Not Disturb on before bed. Whenever I enter this “mode” then come out of it (turn OFF airplane mode and do not disturb. Turn ON cell service and Bluetooth) my cell service doesn’t turn back on.

I have to re-enter airplane mode with everything else off then turn it all back on again in order for cell service to connect.

Yes I have tried restarting the phone. This happens EVERY time. I can do it right now.

@XfinityGabriel

Hi, it's an iPhone 12 mini and no I haven't reached out to Apple about the issue. I've gone through multiple iOS updates and the problem persists.

Thank you for providing these details. That’s a nice phone by the way. I can’t wait to upgrade my iPhone 11. I did some research, I have discovered some additional troubleshooting steps to try when experiencing this issue. From what I am seeing, it seems that your iPhone 12 mini is getting stuck in airplane mode. Here are some steps to try:

Method 1. Versatile Force Restart

Method 2. Remove and Re-Insert SIM Card

Method 3. Update Carrier Settings

Method 4. Reset Network Settings to Fix Airplane Mode Stuck

Method 5. Ultimate Solution to Fix iPhone Stuck on Airplane Mode with ReiBoot

I found that the issue only happens when I have Wi-Fi Calling enabled.

Wifi Calling Enabled + WiFi connection = no cell data connection
Wifi Calling Enabled w/o WiFi connection = no cell data connection
Wifi Calling Disabled + WiFi connection = 5G data connection

Wifi Calling Disabled w/o WiFi connection = 5G data connection

This means if I have WiFi calling enabled and I then leave that wifi location the phone has no wifi and no cell data connection.

Why would the phone not revert back to cell data once the wifi connection is lost?

That is odd. What cell service provider do you have?

I no longer work for Comcast.
