BYOD iPads not allowed? Really?

I just have to say that this is the most frustrating issue to try to track down. I just bought an iPad Pro. It has cellular and I wanted to be able to add it to whatever services I ended up with. I tried adding it when I tried setting up the account. It would not tell me if it was compatible or not. I ended up calling to set up the account, and when it came to adding it, the person I spoke to DID NOT KNOW that the ipad was not compatible. And he couldn't tell me why. In looking thru the forest of info about Xfinity Mobile, I did run across the fact that apparently if I had bought my iPad thru Xfinity, it would be compatible. But since I didnt, its not. I would have been fine with getting it from Xfinity IF IT WAS AVAILABLE. ITS NOT!!. No one can tell me why or when it will be available. Oh but apparently you can use it on hotspots. That was a disaster as well, since even if I was connected to the internet when I tried connecting to a hot spot, I was told I wasn't and that I couldn't connect to a hot spot! Really? How exactly does that work? I did get it working but today, when I tried to connect to a hot spot, none show up, even though there were several available supposedly in the Hot Spot maps. So yeah. Let's hope it will connect to my phone. But I gotta say this severely limits how I can use my device. I can't be the only person who uses an iPad Pro for work away from home. By locking out my device, it limits what I can do. My question is when is this going to be rectified? And why isn't this limitation more visible on your websites? This really shouldn't be a secret.

Hello, @user_b530d0. Thank you for reaching out about the iPad model not being approved for BYOD on our mobile network. We appreciate the feedback on what devices are allowed, and I'll forward feedback regarding iPad Pros. As of now, tablets are not included in our BYOD program, and no plans are set in place to allow them at this time; However, we're always looking to improve the services and products/options we offer for our customers, and I'm hopeful in the future we'll offer BYOD for tablets/iPads. I have a cellular iPad myself, and would love to be able to get a line added for it rather than running my phone's hotspot to it.

As for our hotspots, some hotspots that show up on the map may either have the maximum devices connected to it or it may have been taken down by the customer whose account the modem is associated with. If you run into further issues connecting to a hotspot, we can open a ticket to have that location investigated further for you as well.

A way around it is take your xfinity sim for whatever other device you have and pop it in. Service will work just fine. It will just identify as a different device. (Whatever you pulled the SIM card from) it’s an embarrassing fumble on their part and honestly ridiculous.

@user_28412c I ended up just getting data only from Mint Mobile. Its works great and it works as a hotspot (Xfinity hotspots are unusable)
