By -the-Gig 50% price increase?

For low data usage, b0 the-gig, at a nominal $10/GB seems to work well. We use 2 or at most 3 GB/month. In reading the fine print with the iPhone 12 upgrade, the by-the-gig amount will apparently go to $15/GB if one uses a new iPhone 12. This 50% increase seems a bit much and it wouldn't take long to spend the $250 gift card if you upgrade your iPhonr with Xfinity.

Am I reading this right? Can anyone confirm this is indeed the case?

I've thought about going to the unlimited plan a few times but the only time I ever go over 2gbs is when I go home to CT to visit. When I'm here in PA I hardly use data... but if I need to tether I do not want to be stuck with speeds of 600kbps. Can't even check e-mail with that. So I think I'll skip the iPhone this year... I like the look but don't see much difference from my 11 Pro Max except a couple of camera upgrades. 5G isn't widespread enough to bother. Good luck with what you decide!

I'm not sure where you're seeing $10/Gb as a starting point. I signed on in the early days of Xfinity Mobile at $12/Gb (I think), and still have that rate. My wife and I combined might have exceeded 1 Gb/month twice in the last three years or so. I did see that new plans are offered at $15/Gb. I don't plan to take any actions that might switch me to the newer plan and higher rate, but I still think it's as good  a deal as you'll find if you're sharing and account and using little data.

FWIW, I'm seeing $10 per GB per month before taxes. It is probably a touch more with tax. But the point is that the $10 is going to $15/GB/Mo with a 5G-capable device, as nearly as I can tell.

I honestly don't know where you're getting 10 bucks... it's been $12 a month since the day they opened. But yes it has gone up to $15 a month... I didn't know that until now and I'm not happy. Only Comcast would raise the raise in the middle of a freakin' pandemic. 😡  I usually upgrade my iPhone every year but I won't this year. I'm staying at $12 a month... if you switch to unlimited then decide you want to go back to by the gig it'll be $15 a month. So to answer your question... it's a 25% increase, not 50%.

Thanks. I don't know where I got the $10 either - defective memory to be sure 🙄 I checked all past bills and you are absolutely correct at $12/GB!

My wife and I share the account and hardly ever go over 2 GB. If we upgrade with the new rates, the 2 GB cost would be the same as the 3 GB/$30 plan. So we, like you are working on deciding about the upgrade.
