Activating an non- compatible Unlocked Phone - Note 20

For those out there like me that, like me, bought an unlocked phone from Samsung (Note 20 Ultra) and tried to move it to Xfinity only to be told it was "not compatible", it looks like I have discovered a workaround.

I spent multiple calls and chats trying to get a Factory Unlocked Note 20 Ultra activated with Xfinity and was told, the IMEI was not compatible and there was nothing they or I could do about it.

Once I found out that Xfinity leases Verizon cell time, I realized that this was due to the fact that my IMEI # is not in Verizon's system and Xfinity is either unwilling or unable to add it to the network.

So decide to look for a back door.  After some research I discovered that the Visible.com service is a Verizon company and after checking with them they said they could take my device (i.e. IMEI).  I decided to do a trial with a new #/SIM card.  After a couple of days on their network I went back to the Xfinity BYOB compatibility checker and ( surprise, surprise) my phone is now compatible with the Xfinity network.

Now the question is do I stay with Xfinity or do I switch/port my # to Visible.  Not real happy with Xfinity support (except for one advanced tech, named Stephanie ).  Even had on of the techs hang up on me while I asking questions about the issue.

So for those of you out there wanting to get a factory Unlocked phone on the Xfinity network, maybe this will work.

I also imagine this would work using Verizon directly, but they had a $35 activation fee for BYOD.

I also wonder if just sticking a working Verizon SIM in the phone for a few days might register the IMEI on their network

I'd love to hear about other peoples success/failures trying this process.

Good Luck

Digging up this thread for OP and any lonely traveler that may pass by. When my family signed up for Xfinity my wife got a new iphone with the and and passed her old one down to me to use for bring your own. We activated both, but I am not an apple fan by any means and didn't want to spend money when I already had a perfectly good working android motox2014. I popped the sim into my motox and everything worked. My motor is fully rooted, unlocked and running lineage is rather than normal android. Everything worked fine for a year or so but within the last years I sometimes don't get texts for an hour or two. I went to Xfinity and they gave me a new sim which fixed the problem for a few weeks but now having issues again. It is intermittent which is the frustrating part. Wondering if it the phone finally giving out or a network issue. I will look into the visible.com trick you mentioned above. I actually want to upgrade my phone, but xfinitys options are underspeced and overpriced compared to what you can get on Amazon. I also don't want the bloat ware that comes installed. My bill is $6 a month so can't complain too much :)
