Xfinity wrongfully merged my internet account with some random person's phone account
After a combined 22 hours of being on the phone with tech support, we are no closer to a fix.
Last week, my internet account and a random person's phone account merged. Nobody knows why or how, but one day I had 2 phones on my account, registered to a different person, with their credit card details, account number, name, phone number, address, all visible to me.
The first time I called, the xfinity operator simply deleted the two numbers. A few hours later, I got a call from xfinity, and they had the other person on the phone with them. Apparently, unless I authorized the phone numbers being re-instated to my account, this other person was going to just lose their phone number (that they use phone number for business!).
So I authorized the restart of one phone number (never heard from the other person) to my account, with the understanding that this number would be transferred to the correct account owner.
A week later, I call to confirm, get transferred to different tech support reps for over 6 hours, only to find out that a transfer request was never initiated, and there is no record of any of the issues.
This is unacceptable in every way. It was simultaneously a data breach, a wrongful activation, and a tyrannical waste of everyone's time.
Should I get lawyers involved in this?
