Xfinity WiFi only allows connection if i already have another connection to perform 2FA

As someone who lives in a city notorious for cell phone dead zones, i very much appreciate the Xfinity WiFi hotspot scattered around town. But have you guys ever considered how absolutely idiotic it is to only allow connection to the WiFi if someone already has another connection to perform their 2FA? The reason I am connecting is because I do not have signal. A WiFi that only lets me connect if I can already connect to the Internet through other means is more than useless, it is frustrating and vexing.
