Visual Voicemil app not working, but voicemails available in Phone app

I have issues with the Visual Voicemail app for about 3 years. First on my last phone (S22 Ultra) and now on a Samsung Galaxy Ultra S26. I've had Xfinity Mobile service since June 2017 and am now on my 3rd Samsung Galaxy phone. And I currently have the Premium Unlimited service.

What happens is the Voicemail app just stops showing all new voicemails coming in. It seems to do this every few months! It will show the older saved voicemails though. In the past I have followed a set of clearing cache-data/resets/restarts etc to finally get it to work again, showing the new voicemail message also. But this time that did nothing at all. Nothing else has made any difference either.

The Visual Voicemail simply says there are NO messages even though there are new messages. And no one has an issue leaving a voicemail.

But in the Phone app itself it does show the call coming in with the voicemail recording icon.

And if I select that call it shows there is a voicemail of whatever length. If I click on the microphone icon on the right then it will play the voicemail!

So I have several questions:

Is this a Xfinity Mobile service issue or a Samsung phone issue, or both?

Is the Visual Voicemail app worthless?

Should I just listen to the voicemails in the Phone app itself because that is the ONLY reliable method to get to them?

Also,

the phone OS is fully up-to-date

        all apps are up-to-date

the phone has been restarted...many times in troubleshooting this...

I have  full access to towers for mobile data and full access to Wi-Fi

I do not use any VPN on the phone

Thanks

erm54 - Thank you for reaching out. We know how important your voicemail messages are, and Xfinity wants to make accessing them as simple as possible.

Yes, Visual Voicemail is supported on Xfinity Mobile. The experience may vary depending on your device, as iPhones and many newer Android phones use their built-in Phone app for voicemail instead of the legacy Xfinity Mobile Voicemail app.

If you haven't already, please try the following troubleshooting steps:

Go to Settings > Apps > Visual Voicemail (or Voicemail).
Select Force Stop.
Tap Storage, then choose Clear Cache followed by Clear Data.
Return to Settings and navigate to General Management > Reset.
Select Reset Mobile Network Settings only.
Go back to your home screen and open the Visual Voicemail app.
Complete the setup process and allow any requested permissions.
Once setup is complete, restart your device.

After your phone reboots, check to see if Visual Voicemail is working properly. Let us know the results, and we'll be happy to continue troubleshooting with you if needed.

@XfinityThomasA

Thanks for the reply.

I have already tried those steps, several times. And it never made a difference, every time Visual Voicemail would say there were no messages even though there were 2. In the past when I had this issue those steps did fix the problem, well at least until it happened again. This is the first time I noticed the problem since I started using the S26 Ultra at the end of March.

This time I also tried calling from my home phone and left a message, but nothing showed in the app. Previously on my last phone (S22 Ultra), after going through the mentioned steps, all old-archived-new messages showed in the Visual Voicemail app.

Now the Phone app shows the call and that a voice message was left, but Visual Voicemail still shows no messages.

What I see is below:

As you can see, 2 of the calls show there are voice messages left, but the Visual Voicemail app does not show them. And as I mentioned I can play them from the Phone app, but that's all.

erm54 - You're very welcome, and thank you for sharing that information. Our troubleshooting is more limited if you're using your devices build in app. I've included a document with additional details on how to access your voicemail on your Android device. This is the method I recommend using whenever you need to check your voicemail.

How do I access voicemail on my Android phone?

@XfinityThomasA , Thanks for the additional info.

It would be nice that the only Voicemail "app" on the newer phones worked correctly though.

I can listen to each message as I mentioned before by selecting the microphone icon next to the name.

And I know that you can also open MyFiles and look in the Voicemail folder.

But after looking at the link you provided, I did see a way to see all voicemail messages in that folder from the Phone app. But it is not as documented in the link provided. If I select one of the calls listed under Recents, then click on the Menu/More Menu type icon, then click on the Microphone icon, it has a link to go to voicemail - basically the same as going through MyFiles.

But also it is only to listen to the voicemail messages, there are no transcripts of any message available or a way to get them directly.

But it seems the a voicemail app should work or what's the point of even having it on the phone.

@erm54 Our Xfinity App is a great place where you can also share feedback about our products and services. There's a tab inside the app.

Are you connected to your homes' Wi-Fi internet when the new voicemail messages should come in?

When this happens do you notice if you're also having any connection or signal issues at the time?

@XfinityKei I have been connected to the Wi-Fi, but also have a strong mobile signal, all bars. But it also doesn't matter when I look at the Voicemail app, it never shows any of the voice messages whether I am at home or somewhere else and only connected to the towers. And I never have any connection or signal issues with any other apps.
