Samsung Android 15 Update Forgets All Public WiFi Connections Including Xfinity
I have a Samsung A54 that updated itself to Android 15 on June 4, 2025. The update apparently caused my phone to forget all its public WiFi connections. Thus when going to my local Panera, for example, my phone no longer prompted me to log in, so I had to re-establish the relationship from scratch, as if I'd never been connected before.
As an Xfinity mobile customer, this was particularly disturbing because my phone also forgot the "Xfinity WiFi" network, which consists of thousands of Xfinity WiFi hotspots that Xfinity maintains around the country. Formerly my phone would automatically detect and connect all such hotspots; I had formerly been pleasantly surprised in many places (such as airports) to find my phone already connected to Xfinity WiFi. After the Android 15 update, my phone failed to recognize the presence of any Xfinity WiFi network, and when I manually re-established one such connection, my phone required that I re-enter my Xfinity credentials.
Beyond this, the Android 15 update also changed critical WiFi settings. Specifically, it turned on a feature called "Intelligent WiFi" that I wasn't even aware existed. Enabling this seems to automatically enable a subordinate setting called "Turn WiFi on/off automatically", which caused me distress when I noticed that my WiFi had been turned off whenever away from home, even though I had not turned it off. I solved this problem by manually disabling "Intelligent WiFi".
I would expect this all to be a nightmare for both Xfinity and Samsung. There are surely millions of Xfinity customers who have no idea that their Samsung phones were connecting automatically to Xfinity's WiFi hotspots, thereby automatically saving them huge mobile data fees. Those customers are now walking around with the same phone, but it won't connect to Xfinity WiFi and all their data usage will now accrue to their mobile data plans.

Xfinity has nothing to do with the OS on you device. I gave up owning Samsung phones because of the way they handle Android updates. I switched to a Pixel. Straight Android without any of the [Edited: Language] that other manufacturers put on their phones. Also you should always do a settings backup before any upgrade. Sadly, it appears that you will have to manually rebuild all your logins. Good luck.
