Roblox App Connection Issue
I never had any issues connecting to Roblox until I switched to Xfinity Mobile. Now whenever I try to play a game, it loads with everyone frozen and I get disconnected shortly after. I do not have any issues playing while connected to wifi. It is only when using mobile data that I have issues. Is Xfinity blocking Roblox? How can this be fixed?

Hello, @Kamhwv! Thanks for creating a post in our Xfinity Community Forum regarding this concern with the Roblox app. You've come to the right place! Our Digital Care Team is awesome to work with because we'll always do whatever we can to help.
It's highly unlikely that we're outright "blocking" Roblox in the sense of a complete, intentional block. However, there are several reasons why you might experience connectivity issues with Roblox specifically on Xfinity Mobile data, and not on Wi-Fi. Here's a breakdown of potential causes and troubleshooting steps:
Potential Causes:
- Network Congestion/Prioritization:
Mobile networks, especially during peak hours, can experience congestion. We, like other MVNOs (Mobile Virtual Network Operators), might prioritize certain types of traffic over others. Real-time gaming like Roblox can be sensitive to latency and packet loss, which are exacerbated by network congestion.
It is possible that we are deprioritizing gaming traffic during peak hours, or when network congestion is high.
- Latency and Packet Loss:
Mobile data inherently has higher latency and more potential for packet loss compared to Wi-Fi. This can be particularly problematic for games like Roblox, which require a stable and low-latency connection.
Even small amounts of packet loss, or latency spikes, can cause the frozen characters, and disconnection issues you are experiencing.
- APN Settings:
Incorrect APN (Access Point Name) settings can affect your mobile data connection's performance. While we generally configure these automatically, it's worth checking if they are correct.
- Network Restrictions/Firewall:
While a full block is unlikely, there might be some network-level restrictions or firewall settings that are interfering with Roblox's connection.
- Roblox Server Issues:
Although less likely if the issue is only on mobile data, temporary Roblox server issues can also cause connectivity problems.
- Xfinity Mobile Network Issues:
There could be temporary network interruptions, or maintenance being performed on the our network in your area.
Troubleshooting Steps:
1. Check Your APN Settings:
- Ensure your APN settings are correct for Xfinity Mobile. You can usually find these settings on our website or by contacting our Xfinity Mobile support.
- In most cases, the APN settings are automatically set, but it is worth verifying.
2. Restart Your Device:
- A simple restart can often resolve temporary network glitches.
3. Check for Roblox Updates:
- Ensure you have the latest version of the Roblox app installed.
4. Test in Different Locations:
- Try playing Roblox in different locations to see if the issue is location-specific. This can help determine if it's related to network congestion in a particular area.
5. Check Xfinity Mobile Network Status:
- Visit our Xfinity Mobile website or contact our Xfinity Mobile support to check for any reported network outages or issues in your area.
6. Contact Xfinity Mobile Support:
- If the issue persists, contact Xfinity Mobile support by call/text: 1-888-936-4968 or via chat. Explain the problem and mention that it only occurs on mobile data. We may be able to provide further assistance or investigate potential network issues.
7. Check Roblox Server Status:
- Websites like downdetector.com can show if there are current issues with the Roblox servers.
8. Data Usage and Throttling:
- Check your Xfinity Mobile plan. If you have exceeded your high speed data limit, it is possible that your data is being throttled, which would cause issues with online gaming.
Key takeaway:
The most likely culprit is network congestion or latency issues inherent in mobile data. Contacting Xfinity Mobile support is the best way to get specific help tailored to your account and location. Please let me know if this helps!
