RCS Activation & Verification Texts

I’m currently unable to receive any 2factor verification messages from websites/apps to my text messages and my phone is stuck at “Awaiting RCS activation”. This is a new problem as I’ve had my phone for a while and have had Xfinity mobile for years. Anyone have any suggestions?

apellegrino21, Hi there! Thanks for taking the time to reach out. I know how frustrating it is when 2‑factor verification texts stop coming through, especially when everything was working fine before. I appreciate you giving the details about the RCS message too; that really helps. You've come to the right place. Over social media, our team of experts is dedicated to providing solutions to all Xfinity service-related concerns. We can help. When both RCS activation and verification texts fail at the same time, it’s usually a sign that messaging provisioning needs a quick refresh on the network side. Here are a couple of easy steps you can try that often fix it without any extra hassle:
  1. Turn RCS off temporarily, wait about 30 seconds, then turn it back on.
  2. Restart the phone, especially after toggling RCS.
  3. Check that your SMS is set as the default messaging type in case the phone is trying to route everything over RCS only.

If you’ve already tried those or the phone is still stuck on ‘Awaiting RCS activation,’ just let us know. Usually, to resolve the issue of not receiving 2-factor verification messages and being stuck at "Awaiting RCS activation," first ensure that your Messages app is connected to the RCS server. Open Messages, tap the three dots, go to Settings, then Chat features, and check if the status shows "Connected." Additionally, ensure that both you and the sender have RCS-capable devices and that RCS is enabled in your settings. If problems persist, consider disabling RCS to fall back to standard text messaging.
