Poor Service always goes to SOS Sat coverage

I’m 10 miles from a major city why do my family’s 6 Xfinity Mobile phone constantly go into SOS Satellite only coverage? Really unreliable and frustrating. Looking to switch carriers. Can never talk to a human and chat function is useless.
