Awful cell service

I had no issues previously with cell reception but the last few months I am getting dropped calls, people telling me I’m going in and out and I’m hearing distortions on the other end. I have full WiFi bars but one or at most 2 bars for cell. I have toggled the airplane mode to find a different tower, enabled WiFi calling and everything else but it’s gotten unacceptable for what I’m paying for. About to switch carriers. Seems like it’s gotten worse since they did the new fiber optic stuff in my neighborhood, and getting someone at Xfinity is like trying to win Powerball. Is this happening everywhere or just Decatur IL?
