Internet Settings Not an Option

I am trying to rename my wifi network. I have tried via the app, but the wifi screen doesnt include the ability to change settings. I have also tried via logging into modem as an admin. There, I can see the name and the detaiils bit it appears to be read only. This was previously not the case. Yesterday I installed a new modem and activated it.

Hello @Gobirda . Sorry to hear the app is giving you issues with changing the Wi-Fi network and password. When you did the activation did it not give you the option to set that up again? Is the new modem one of our gateways or your own purchased equipment?

Thanks for your reply.

It is an xfinity modem/router. I got it yesterday. I replaced an old one that I thought might be the reason for slow connection. I used to be able to see/manage the devices and manage network settings, but no longer. It seems that the system thinks it is my router that I bought, because, if I am correct, that functionality isnt available to those with their own router.

I wasn't able to set network name and password myself so tech helped over the phone to do that.I couldnt do it via app, or via 10.0.0.1 connection- everything was "read only". I couldnt make any changes.

We can see what's happening on the account. I will want to check if the order for the new modem is open and holding up the completion of the activation. Please send a direct message with your full name and the address to get started.

To send a "Direct Message" to Xfinity Support:
Click "Sign In" if necessary
Click the "Direct Messaging" icon or  https://forums.xfinity.com/direct-messaging
Click the "New message" (pencil and paper) icon
The "To:" line prompts you to "Type the name of a person". Instead, type "Xfinity Support" there
- As you are typing a drop-down list appears. Select "Xfinity Support" from that list
- An "Xfinity Support" graphic replaces the "To:" line
Type your message in the text area near the bottom of the window
Press Enter to send it.
