xfinity voip charges

I was quoted a figure by xfinity of $14/month rental for the xFi Gateway + $10/month for the phone service + about $5 taxes, total less than $30/month.  For that, you get unlimited local and long distance calls in the U.S.  That is less than I pay for an AT&T copper landline.

AT&T also adds on additional charges for a "Federal Subscriber Line charge", "Government Fees and Taxes", etc., for a total of another $20.

My question is, if I use xfinity voice or VOIP, will there be additional charges and taxes?

Thanks.

"Please send me a private message" means, on any forums.xfinity.com page:

  • Click "Sign In" if that prompt is visible

  • Click the "Direct Messaging" icon above or https://forums.xfinity.com/direct-messaging

  • On the DM page click the "New message" (pencil and paper) icon

  • The "To:" line prompts you to "Type the name of a person" but don't do that. It won't work.

Instead, type Xfinity Support there. As you are typing a drop-down list appears.

  • Select "Xfinity Support" from the list. An "Xfinity Support" graphic replaces the "To:" line.

  • Type your message in the text area near the bottom of the window

  • Press Enter or tap the > icon to send it
