Trouble with home answering machine

I have a brand new panasonic answering machine and any incoming calls cut out BEFORE the machine can answer the call.

I set the machine to 4 rings, but I have no idea what comcast xfinity is set to as that web site is NOT working.

This is really frustrating.  Where does the problem lie?  The answering system is brand new and I see that I am NOT the only person with this

issue.  Is there any help at all.
