Tel 1 and Tel 2 intermittently lighting up when I only have one phone line

While I only have ONE phone line, usually lit under Tel 1, I have noticed on 11/21/19 & 12/01/19 that  the Tel 2 line is lit, which should not be when I only have ONE line.  I have read a post where it said Comcast runs reports.  I made a call & the person whom I spoke with told me this is the first time he has heard of this & claimed I will need a new Modem.  I requested a call in the a.m.  When I picked up phone to make this call, I noticed Tel 2 flashing & Tel 1 steady on.  Again, usually only Tel 1 is lit & will flash when in use.  Any concrete answers as to why this is occurring?  Logically it seems like I have 2 phone lines when I only have one.  IF Comcast runs reports why wouldn't those answering questions know this?  Useful information please.  Thank you.

That post may have been from me about Tel 1 and Tel 2 lights being on. And the comment about Comcast running reports was the answer I was given by a Comcast tech who was at my house when I had internet problems. I asked him about the Tel 2 light being on and that is the answer he gave me. 

However, I have never seen the Tel 2 light flashing only Tel 1 light when I'm on the phone. My Tel 2 light is off today but it had been on since December. And yes, it appears that it would mean that there are 2 telephone lines.

I don't know if that's true about the reports, but if it is Comcast runs reports for a very long time. My Tel 2 light stays on for close to a month sometimes longer.

Well, I have been keeping track of the "tel 2" lights return & it went on again early this a.m.  What is extremely odd, it that when I have picked up my phone to use it, the "tel 2" light flashes off/on & NOT the "tel 1" light.  Usually I reset the modem & the "tel 2" goes off for a while.  This is part of dates/times of occurrance:

12/06/19 Friday:  Light lite up again after 4 p.m. Restarted Modem to correct problem with 2nd phone line lighting up.
12/16/19 Monday:  Light lite up again early a.m. Restarted Modem to correct problem with 2nd phone line lighting up.
01/05/20 Sunday:  Light lite up again early a.m. Restarted Modem 
01/15/20 Wednesday:  Light lite up again mid-day.  Restarted Modem early a.m. of 01/16/20 
01/25/20 Saturday:  Light lite up again late day. Restarted Modem early a.m. of 01/27/20
02/07/20 Friday:  Light lite up again early a.m. Restarted Modem.

I just had the same thing happen to me.  Noticed my telephone 2 light was on, when it shouldn't be because I only have one phone line.  It stayed on for two days and I had to reset my modem today because the internet went out, and after that, like you said the telephone 2 light went out.  I'm interested to see if it will return as yours did.  I'm gonna be keeping and eye out for it and also checking my bill to make sure I'm not getting charged for a second line.  Did you ever find out why this was occurring or find a solution?

Haven't posted about this in a while. The Tel 2 light on my modem still lights up. Recently the Tel 2 light came on in the months of  September, October , November and December of 2020. I do not restart my modem; I just let the light go off. As one poster indicated when they pick up their phone the Tel 2 light flashes; mine has never flashed; the Tel 2 light stays steady. The modem I have is a newer model have had about 2 or 3 years. The last date I have recorded is 12/16/2020 with Tel 2 light on.  It's weird; it's like someone is using your phone line without you knowing about it.

About the reports; that is what a comcast tech told that came to my house (for a different reason) I just happened to ask that question. What kind of reports can Comcast be running that last for a month?
