Second Landline Phone

My dad has a landline through his xfinity account.  He has a special Clear Caption phone (for hard of hearing) plugged into the modem in the living room.  We would like him to have a second phone, does not need to be another clear caption phone, in his bedroom in case of an emergency.  How do we do this when the only phone line is in the living room on the modem? We foolishly tried pugging a second phone into the wall phone outlet but, of course, that did not work.

  1. If there are any telco connections to your home's phone wiring, disconnect them (important!).
  2. Run a standard modular base cord from the jack on the gateway device to the nearest telephone jack to energize your home's phone outlets.

If the home's phone wiring was done in the usual way, that should allow any phone plugged in to any jack in the home to work. If you have a phone in the area where the gateway is connected and only 1 phone jack there, you'll also need a phone wiring "Y" connector in order to have both hooked up, something like https://www.amazon.com/Duplex-Telephone-Adapter-Splitter-Single/dp/B088Z2DFZS.

Good luck!
